"what buttons do what? Handle bar control wiring issues!"

Alright, I'm in the middle of adding a wiring harness to a former pile of pieces that when assembled look to be a 71 Commando 750 without electric start. My question is: what button/switch does what? LH bar control - top button? - center rocker = signals? Up - Right / Down - Left - bottom button? Headlight Toggle - high beam? RH bar control - top button = horn - center rocker? kill switch? - bottom button??? please help me figure this out. Thanks

Dave - the signals are reverse from a jap bike? The right hand controls them? That means the previous assembler put them on backwards! (Not surprising), the color code for the horn lines up. so I guess the switches are mounted wrong because my horn is the only thing that works properly so far (new harness from OLD BRITTS and everything). Is there a kill switch on the bars or just the momentary thing? what is "IIRC"? Does the headlight switch to off? or just high or low?

IIRC- If I Recall Correctly The kill switch momentarily opens power to the coils. Yes sir this era bikes are different from modern bikes. The hi/lo is strictly that....hi/lo The key and/or the toggle on the headlamp is the on/off there used to be schematics on this site.... regards dave 02 ducati monster S4 92 ducati 907IE (2) 75 commando MKIII 72 combat + several commando baskets 68 dunstall atlas 63 Atlas soon to have a 122 engine in it. + several atlas baskets BSA A-10's (3)

I think my commando was imported from USA and is set up as follows LH top nothing middle up for hi beam middle headlight off down for low beam bottom button passing light or momentary high beam RH top horn middle indicators up is right, down is left (a bit unnatural) bottom red button is the kill switch Note that the service manual has the lights on the right handlebar and indicators on the left. i.e. opposite to how mine is set up.

On the Norton CD there are 5 versions of factory commando drivers/owners manuals listed. 1; 75 MKIII 2; seems to be correct for 68-70 Of the remaining 3 on the CD, two were showing what I described previously and the third does have something closer to what you describe. I guess you could wire it up whatever way you like.
