Hello All,
I recently acquired some parts and would like to know what I have here. I was told the parts were from a Norton, but that's all I know. I know someone here must be able to help me. Thanks, Rick

I may have some good news for you. The CS following the G80 means this is a competition model. An off road scrambler but they did also come with lights.
The photo shows it also has provision for a Norton twin type oil pump and through bolting for the barrels which are competition features.
This was a desirable machine.
Im not an expert but I think this is a late engine from about 1964 because of the Norton oil pump. It should have a roller bearing on the timing side.
A search on the web for Matchless G80CS will bring up photos.
and I agree with Dave the gearbox could well be from this bike. It may have a lower off road set of internal ratios.
Someone will want these parts and you would do well to find the missing bits, head, barrel. The barrel will be alloy with internal push rods unlike the street bikes.

Thanks, I REALLY appreciate the information. I won't be able to get my hands on the rest of the part as they were stolen from the person who gave me the parts. I do have what I believe is the original headlight, rear shocks, inner primary, and handlebars with all the controls. I also have a break pedal, oil tank and various pieces that look to be brackets or motor mount type parts. At one point in time, my friends son was riding the bike (about 10 years ago), so I think these all go together. Again thanks for the info.

Do the cams have SH or CE on them. These are also competition numbers.
According to a posting on the web the last G80CS was engine no 5572 in June 1967. Your number is 195 prior to that so probably a couple of years earlier.
Your cases have machining provison for a generator but the last machines had alternators on the end of the crank. I dont know waht that means in terms of years.
