I used to work in printing where I had access to lots of different solvents... Strip the carbs completely, and put them in a sealable , solvent proof container like a commercial size Nescafe can. DO NOT PUT ANY RUBBER OR PLASTIC PARTS IN THE CAN.Buy some MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone)from your local printer and submerge the parts, put the lid on and leave it somewhere at room temperature but away from ignition sources. Make sure that the lid is tight and gently agitate the can a few times a day. The fuel varnish dissolves quicker than a Hollywood marriage. The air and fuel passages need to be blown through with compressed air out of doors. BE AWARE THAT MEK PRODUCES FLAMMABLE VAPOURS AND CAN CAUSE ADVERSE REACTIONS IF INHALED. The zinc alloy components will have a rather unnatural "matte" look but this can be fixed by buffing with paper towels and some WD40.Do the same for the throttle and mixing chamber. If you have minimal wearin the throttle bodies it is worth buying the hard chrome throttle slides as sold by Surrey Cycles in the UK. The original zinc alloy slide in zinc alloy body is just about the worst bearing combination going. Assemble with a drop of silicone oil. Legal disposal of the residue can may be tricky depending on the legislation where you live, but if you leave the lid off it will evaporate in a few hours... :P
