"clutch drag 70 Fastback - can't engage first gear"
Still can't put in first gear. Now I realised that I have heavy clutch drag. Even though I replaced the stack with the Norvil plates and all is clean and clutch rod seal is in place. Clutch center and all related parts do looking good to me. Metal plates I mounted all with the smooth cookie stamping looking outside of basket.
What are other reasons for clutch dragging? Yes, I used the search botton already. Thanks!

A gear box can have internal drag which is mistaken for clutch drag.
It is demonstrated by turning the empty clutch drum on the trans mainshaft and the rear drive sprocket will also turn even though the box is in neutral. It is mainly from cold thick oil acting like glue.
If the primary and drive chains are both tight, this added internal drag is also mistaken for clutch drag.
Internal drag is what makes the rear wheel spin while on the centerstand but the gearbox is in neutral.

thank you David!
I tested the drag on center stand, engaged first and clutch lever fully operated. Then it takes quite some force to stop the rear wheel. In neutral, clutch leever unoperated, just a littel force is needed to stop rear wheel.
Maybe my drag is just normal and other reasons are here for not let first gear engage.

Finally I got it! Phuuu..!
Thanks to the directions of Hans Meyer, my Swiss parts dealer and a old Norton pro. Before I just used all the clutch parts from Norvil like they propose. So I adjusted the stack height to Hans Meyer's directions. The diaphragma spring should be just a little concave. I fiddled this with 4 Norvil friction plates, 4 Norvil metal plates and the thin outer plate like it is used in 5 plates clutches. No drag anymore, first gear slips in perfectly! The force to operate the clutch is convenient.

Sorry to say, there is probably some coincidental reason for the drag to go away .
If you took out something out due to a completly over filled clutch basket that was not allowing any disengagement despite unloading the diaphragm.

normal is 3 steel and 4 thick friction
or 4 steel and 5 thin friction.
A nonstandard clutch uses 4 and 4????
You really should check your clutch stack height

Dave, I also can't imagine why the clutch works now so far. But I didn't could check clutch slip (other pipes, need to richen mixture). As soon I know more, I poste it.
