I got this BSA from my father who had it stored for 20 years. I am trying to indentify the year and model and I am stumped. So I started a tear down to see what I could find.
I started pullin apart the BSA and found some carb numbers. The number on the carb is R928, which according to the Haynes BSA A50 & A65 Twins Workshop manual page 37, is a '71 or older Thunderbolt carb. The front end is a '71 front end. The engine number is 71-1033, and the frame number is A50R 7038. Is this a Thunderbolt engine in a Royal Star frame?
Any ways, the front fork tubes are a mess, need new ones. The front brakes are great just need shoes. The engine has no compression, I think a rebuild is in order. Otherwise mechanically sound, will probably be running soon barring any major problems.
I will post some pictures of the carb and engine #'s. I am confused with these.
Also I have the tank for sale on ebay.
