My view on this subject.....
You should question your source and get more specific data before you believe what they are claiming. The alternator rotor on a car is DC electromagnet not permanent magnet. I.E. gaussing is NOT possible.
The lucas rotor can be regaussed. I have a gausser that should be able to do it if a suitable regaussing "armature" was manufactured. I have a design, but have not bothered to build one, since there is not likely much $ in this line of work. A lot of the rotors are mechanically bad and need to be replaced anyway. Anyone that claims to be regaussing them by "dragging"(or similar) them across a super magnet is just scamming money out of them.
My gausser will primarily be used for magneto work.
